This is considered one of the best quality resources because of the peer review. Also, they are likely the most up-to-date source of information. Generally, these journal publications are only accessible if you have paid for the journal. Many libraries buy subscriptions and these journals could also be available on their shelves, or as e-journals through their library system. If not a student, staff or faculty member, many libraries have computer terminals that can be used on-campus to access this information. Or sometimes you can pay a fee on-line to obtain a copy. Professional associations may have agreements with university libraries such that members can obtain a library card for free. For example, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) provides this service through the University of Saskatchewan engineering library.
The CIM Journal is one example of a peer reviewed journal from the Canadian industry. The CIM on-line database is currently accessed free for members. CIM allows members to also access the OneMine Database. OnePetro is an excellent database recommended for petroleum papers. InfoMine is one place that can be checked for a complete listing of journals that members of the mining industry may publish in (Table 4).
