Books can be considered second to peer reviewed journal publications in terms of quality of a reference. A publisher will generally be responsible for verifying the quality of the writing. More and more, libraries are opting to purchase electronic books and texts. A quick search on the internet can find many informative books about mining methods, geology, rock mechanics, the social aspect of mining, etc. Many out-of-print books have been published which may be more difficult to find. A sample of these books written about particular mining operations and districts in Canada are listed in Appendix 4.
