

Mining magazines and newspapers for the mining industry are outlined in Table 5. These can be a good source for information on recent events, news, or products related to the industry. They can also provide job listings and advertisements which may indirectly provide information such as the type of software an engineering department uses, mining method, etc. The Mining Sourcebook was an outstanding publication that listed mining method, types of equipment used, drill patterns, backfill methods and other technical information that was key to an engineering education. This gap in generalized information is very difficult to fill otherwise. For Canada, the Canadian Mining Journal is a magazine that publishes an annual list of the top 40 Canadian mining companies by gross revenue (Figure 5). This magazine was established in 1882.
